Part of the Street Program
Join the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) for a free walking tour exploring the Invisible City. This tour will explore a short section of the Bowery—between Grand and Houston Streets—highlighting the past, present, and future of the storied thoroughfare that was one of New York City’s first streets. Learn about life in the shadows of the Third Avenue elevated railroad, the impact of twentieth-century infrastructure and urban renewal schemes, and the arrival of the New Museum.
Municipal Art Society tours will be leaving from the Shared Tour Hub in Sara D. Roosevelt Park at the corner of Stanton and Forsyth Streets at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
