Astor Place has a played a unique role in the history of downtown New York. As one of the city’s first subway stops, a hub for downtown performing arts, and the gateway to multiple neighborhoods, Astor Place has been connected to a diverse group of cultural and countercultural movements. Today, the future of Astor Place is under construction. MTWTF and the Village Alliance will offer an interactive, self-guided audio tour of the stories that shape Astor Place. Considering its past and future, a diverse group of collaborators will expose the invisible forces that have collided within this intersection.
