Join us for Family Day presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon,” on view at the New Museum from September 27, 2017, to January 21, 2018. Families will get to explore artist Nayland Blake’s Crossing Object (inside Gnomen), on view on the Third Floor of “Trigger.” Blake’s life-sized “fursona” called Gnomen, a hybrid of a bison and bear whose gender and sex are pliable, will act as inspiration for a costume remix. Families are invited to bring in clean used and unwanted Halloween costumes to collectively create a new, indecipherable character that explores gender beyond the binary.
Nayland Blake’s performance Crossing Object (inside Gnomen) is presented from 1–5 p.m. on select dates throughout the duration of the exhibition.
