What if the power didn’t go out during Hurricane Sandy?
Beyond the Grid is an innovative and resilient energy and communications network designed to serve the diverse needs of our Lower East Side community, but it can be replicated anywhere. Beyond the Grid will power and connect community-based organizations, residential buildings, and small businesses, retrofitted through sustainable design, to become resilient hubs of information and relief in crisis scenarios. Our innovative use of green energy and communications technologies will enhance economic, environmental, and social conditions in crisis and fairweather scenarios. At the Festival, we will demonstrate a green energy–powered public wifi network. Thanks to Milestone Architecture PLLC.
